Finding Clarity in a World Full of Distortion

Seeing & honoring our worth is a difficult concept. Riddled with shame, fear and extrinsic motivation, it can be difficult to separate ourselves from this sea of pressure consuming us and to feel confident to stand alone. In this session, we will explore the difference between our worth and value and basics in assertive communication to communicate those concepts more effectively and without caving to your negative self talk. We will take time to explore the roots of our negative self talk and self efficacy “disruptors” to allow attendees to create greater insight and understanding about the narratives in which they have existed until now. Form there, we will learn tangible skills and tools to help you lean into a more assertive lifestyle, protecting your time and resources and using them to cultivate a life in which you thrive rather than feel lost in the pervasiveness threat of shame and negative self talk.

Boundaries & Barriers: The What, Why and How

Understanding and setting boundaries are hard skills often accompanied by shame, guilt, and fear.
Learn the various types of inter- and intrapersonal boundaries and where those need to be for you to
be able to live your best life. We will explore methods in how to then set, evolve and maintain
boundaries that work for and allow you to break free from the pressures pushed upon you. The
importance here is being true to yourself and getting out of the pressures of 'supposed to' in order to
find what works for you.

Know Your Worth & How to Communicate It

Seeing & honoring our worth is a difficult concept. Riddled with shame, fear and extrinsic motivation, it can be difficult to separate ourselves from this sea of pressure consuming us and to feel confident to stand alone. This leads so many of us to “play small”, blend in and conform to the “shoulds” and “supposed tos” in live, feeling disconnected from ourselves and never truly seeing success in our business and brand because it is not a reflection of us as a whole (read more).

Why Creatives Run the World

Why Creatives Run the World

In every creative person’s life, there are moments when we are faced with a decision between pursuing creativity as a career or as a side interest. How do we navigate through that thought process and reorganize all the different factors that go into making this decision?

“Why Creatives Run The World” is an exciting opportunity to discuss and explore how five local Portlanders are redefining creativity in their community. We believe that all creatives need a supportive environment to say “What I Am Doing Has Purpose” and from there have the ability to elevate their minds, refocus their goals, follow their passions, and transform their community.

So join us, as Vyvyan Doan (Startup Founder of the Creative Gym) and her featured guest speakers will be presenting topics related to:

  • The Power of Evolving our Creative Mindset: Reversing Fear

  • How Fear & Busyness Affects Creativity and Authenticity

  • Three Behaviors for Creative Badassery

All tickets purchased for this event will go toward fundraising for “The Creative Gym.” Come learn more about the plans of this workspace and its goals to support the creative and artist community!

Our Speakers:

  • Vyvyan Doan (Creative Gym)

  • Kyira Wackett (Kinda Kreative)

  • Nneka Denise Coxeff (BLP Magazine)

  • Hieu Pham (Atlas Dental)

  • Paloma Medina (11:11 Supply)
